(KCPW News) A new generation of veterans emerging from the Iraq War was the final impetus to create a Utah Department of Veteran's Affairs.Yesterday Governor Jon Huntsman appointed long-time division of Veteran's Affairs director Terry Schow to head the new department become the newest member of the governor's cabinet. Previously veterans needs were represented by the Utah National Guard on the Governor's Cabinet.
Now Schow says he will have a direct avenue for tapping funds and support for veteran's needs. He says funding for a new veterans' nursing home in Ogden will be his top priority.
Governor Huntsman offered Schow a few of his own directives. He instructed his new cabinet member to create a database of Utah veterans and begin providing more outreach to veterans who are not taking advantage of benefits to which they are entitled.

It may be about time, but, is Schow the right guy for the job? There have been a lot of complaints from angry vets about his running of the VA. Do you suppose Governor Waffle, Jr. just doesn't know any other veterans?
