New Report Pinpoints Health of Small Communities

(KCPW News) A new report from the Utah Department of Health details how healthy small communities in Utah really are.The report finds large disparities in cases of diabetes between the Avenues area of Salt Lake City and West Jordan North area. The Avenues area showed 1.5% of adults have diabetes compared to nearly 10% in the West Jordan North area.
Utah County used the findings to pinpoint two areas with high smoking rates and focused non-smoking campaigns in those areas. Friedrichs says more local health deparments could save money with similarly focused efforts.
