Downplays Importance of Media
(KCPW News) Candidates for Salt Lake City Mayor are better off shaking hands and kissing babies than spending campaign dollars to post their mugs on television and billboards, according to Dave Owen of Owen Communication.Owen says candidates need to find 5,000 to 6,000 people who will vote for them in the primary election. He adds interpersonal communication is the best way to gather those votes.
While it's unlikely that television and radio campaign announcements will influence voters, Owen says ads lend legitimacy and name recognition to candidates.
