Early Voting Numbers Up
None by KCPW
(KCPW News) Still two weeks until primary election day, and already fifteen-hundred people in Salt Lake County have cast their ballots. That's several hundred more than voted by absentee in 2005. Salt Lake County Deputy Clerk Jason Yocom says the trend benefits voters and elections officials."This actually works out well for the clerk's office because we're always concerned about lines on election day," says Yocom. "If more people vote early, we're able to better accommodate election-day traffic."
Yocom says the growing interest in early voting may also be a result of informational postcards the clerk's office recently mailed to all registered voters. Early voting for municipal primary races continues through next Friday, September 7th at city recorders' offices and the Salt Lake County Government Center.
