Anderson Says Buhler Would Be "Horrific" SLC Mayor
None by Eric Ray
(KCPW News) There are less than two weeks until the primary election for Salt Lake City Mayor, and current Mayor Rocky Anderson has made it quite clear he doesn't think candidate Dave Buhler is the man for the job.Anderson says Buhler would make a "horrific" mayor because he would represent a very narrow sector of the Salt Lake community and would setback the city's reputation across the country. He says Buhler, a current city council member, has layed down for everything the LDS Church has ever wanted politically.
Buhler calls Anderson "a playground bully with a law degree." Buhler says he is just the latest in a long list of people Anderson has personally attacked because of their religion. Buhler says it's his goal to make the mayor's office more positive and productive.
Anderson and Buhler have engaged in a media war on several issues, including possible changes to Salt Lake's city ordinance that allows just two taverns per block. Buhler says Anderson has never submitted a proposal to the city council to change the ordinance. Anderson says he didn't draft a proposed ordinance because the city council made it clear, after Buhler called the LDS Church, that they would not change the ordinance.

If Rocky doesn't like this guy, then I'm certainly going to vote for him! What do I care what Rocky thinks - he's out of touch with reality!

I think Anderson is a poor representative of SLC. His antics are an embarrassment and I look forward to him leaving office. I would not be voting for Buhler, but against Anderson. Good Riddance.

The mayor is probably right on this one. Look at Buhler's record, he does seem to be lobbyest for The Church masquerading as a representative of the people.

Buhler does seem a bit out of reach of the general populace of Salt Lake City. While he is playing a centrist for the campaign, his background is a republican, businessman and member of the dominating religion of Salt Lake City. Alone some of these points would not be problem, but together it spells not a lot of progressive change, something essential to a developing downtown. He would be better served to run for mayor in Provo.

If Buhler is the "nice guy" who can "compromise" then why is he always so negative and can't seem to get along with the current mayor?
It sounds like he should change his campaign slogan to: "Hey, I'm that guy that hates Rocky, vote for me!"

Actually, he's not fighting Rocky as much as he's defending himself from Rocky, who should not be talking about horrific mayors if he has any intelligence left.

Dave Buehler would be a helluva lot better than Rocky. As a business owner in Salt lake City, he rivals Corodinni in gull and self interests
