Survey Shows SLC Residents Support "Going Green"

None by Eric Ray

(KCPW News) The results of a biennial survey released by Salt Lake City today shows the city's concerns about the environment are rubbing off on residents. Fifty percent of those polled are aware of the Salt Lake City Green Program, up from 34% two years ago.

Mayor Spokesperson Patrick Thronson says efforts by residents to find alternate forms of transportation and xeriscape yards are both up over the last survey.

Thronson says the point of the survey is to gauge the priorities of Salt Lake City residents, as well as the changes they would like to see. Seventy-eight percent of those polled would like to see improvements to Pioneer Park. Thronson says the availability of downtown parking is also a concern.

The survey, conducted by Dan Jones and Associates, had a sample size of just over 700 residents.
