(KCPW News) A new campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of methamphetamine use was launched today by Governor Jon Huntsman and the Utah Methamphetamine Joint Task Force.A 2006 report from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Division of the Utah Department of Human Services shows that women of childbearing age are the most likely to use methamphetamine, and the campaign messages stress that likelihood. Statewide, more than 60% of women entering rehab have at least one child.
The state is spending $2 million on the "End Meth Now" campaign, which will include television, radio and print ads. More information about the campaign is available online at www.endmethnow.org

I have a son who is homeless and has no job; two grandaughters in jail who were on meth. Their lives have been ruined because of meth. They have no place to live when they get out of jail so they head back to the people they know who will give them somewhere to stay. This is how they get back on meth and commit crimes. There needs to be a place where a person who has no money can go to get clean after coming out of jail. They need training in some area where they can get employment. This drug is killing the young adaults and children. There has got to be an answer to this problem. I am just a grandmother who worries about the people that she loves. I know that pot is the gateway to other drugs. I have tried to help them by telling them about God. He loves them. Alanon has a 12 step program to helping, which I am attending at this time. Please this is serious enough to do something so that they do not commit more crimes to get the money to buy the meth.
