SLC Mayoral Candidates Debate Park Maintenance

None by Eric Ray

(KCPW News) The recent wave of crime in Salt Lake City's Pioneer Park has sparked debate among city officials about how to take back the park. Salt Lake City residents seem equally concerned about the condition of other city parks. One resident asked mayoral candidates Ralph Becker and Dave Buhler during a debate yesterday on KCPW how they plan to upgrade the maintenance of the parks.

Ralph Becker says park maintenance is an east side versus west side issue. He uses the current conditions of east side Memory Grove and west side Riverside as evidence for his argument. Becker says consistency in park care is his goal.

Dave Buhler says he has a history of supporting city infrastructure, including its parks. He says improving Salt Lake City's economy is key because the revenue is needed to improve park maintenance.

A full version of yesterday's debate is available for download here. The General Election will be held next Tuesday, November 6th.
