Rocky Recommends 400 West Airport TRAX Line
None by Eric Ray
(KCPW News) The Salt Lake City Council has only received one of three recommendations it needs before it will make a decision to build the airport TRAX line along 400 west or 600 west. Mayor Rocky Anderson's Administration recommends the 4th west option.Anderson says the city's transportation system should enhance the city rather than create more problems. He says urban design and congestion factored into the decision.
Anderson believes building the TRAX extension along 600 west would necessitate another viaduct and create an artificial boundary. He also says economic interests are the only reason to consider 6th west and adds the city will work with developers and property owners to mitigate their concerns.
The City Council could make their decision by the end of November. The council will also consider recommendations from the Planning Commission and the city's Transportation Advisory Board before casting a final vote.
