Politicians and Business Leaders Join To End Underage Drinking
None by Eric Ray
(KCPW News) Representatives of several large companies who say they have taken steps to help end underage drinking in Utah joined Lieutenant Governor Gary Herbert and Senator Pete Knudson at the kick-off of year two of the Parents Empowered campaign today.Herbert says the overwhelming message of the campaign is that ending underage drinking must be a community effort. Herbert says 31% of kids who said they had been drunk at least once in the last year have parents who believe their children are non-drinkers.
Mary Ann Mantes, Vice Chair of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, says parents are still a child's biggest influence and that underage drinkers often get alcohol from their parents without their knowledge.
