Disability Law Center Holds Public Hearings

(KCPW News) The Disability Law Center will hold public hearings in Salt Lake, Utah and Washington Counties tomorrow afternoon to gather input and suggestions for the coming year:"For us to be effective, we need to hear what people are experiencing in our community," says Matt Knotts, Executive Director of the Disability Law Center, which is a nonprofit charged by the Governor to advocate for the rights and needs of Utah's disabled community.
Every year Knotts says the need to shorten the waiting list for services for people with disabilities ranks high on the list:
"The waiting list is always a big priority because people need services and there's nothing more discouraging than being told you need to wait," says Knotts.
Access to special education and disabled access to rural buildings also figure prominently in public hearings, says Knotts.
The public hearings will run from 4 - 7 p.m. December 5, 2007 at the following locations:
-Community Legal Center (205 N. 400 W. Salt Lake
City)
-Cedar City Library West Room (303 N. 100 E. Cedar City)
-Utah County office of the Disability Law Center (548 E. 300 S., Suite 106, American Fork).
