Outgoing Anderson Calls For Becker to Show Leadership

None by Eric Ray

(KCPW News) Outgoing Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson says that once he leaves office he will detach himself from city politics. Anderson says he supports Mayor Elect Ralph Becker, however he hopes Becker realizes the mayor's office requires strong leadership.

"You can't do everything by consensus. You're not going to please everybody," says Anderson. "I think [Becker's] litmus test will be the skybridge. Ralph has said he thinks the skybridge is a bad idea, but then he says he will support it because it's already been agreed upon. It has not been agreed upon and it lands in the mayor's office."

Anderson says he is envious that Becker will get to work with a new-look city council featuring members that have the vision to take action on city issues like Pioneer Park and The Leonardo. Anderson also called for Becker to retain city employees and "not make change for the sake of making change."
