Bennett Leads Delegation to Afghanistan, Pakistan

(KCPW News) Senator Bob Bennett has just returned from leading a Senate delegation to Afghanistan, India and Pakistan. The lawmakers met with the political leaders in both Afghanistan and Pakistan and Bennett called the visits encouraging:

"That part of the world is optimistic, even those parts in Afghanistan where the war is raging," says Bennett. "It's also a part of the world where there's a great deal of pro-American feeling, as opposed to some of the anti-Americanism you run into elsewhere."

The primary focus of the nine-day trip was to attend the World Economic Forum in India. Bennett says they also met with American military officials and came back with a renewed appreciation for the military and its capabilities. Though Afghanistan and Pakistan have serious problems, Bennett says we're moving in the right direction.
