Aspen Developer Defends His Plan

(KCPW News) The developer who is trying to incorporate a new resort town in Wasatch County called a press conference Friday afternoon to set the record straight. KCPW's Julie Rose reports.

Developer Dean Sellers and his attorney believe their request to incorporate the resort town of Aspen in Wasatch County will prevail.

Sellers says he's been wrongly cast as the villain by a group of residents who want no part of his resort. They've been granted approval to annex into the town of Daniel, effectively blocking Seller's plans for Aspen. Those same residents also claim Sellers pressured resident George Curtis into selling his annexation rights. Sellers denies any wrongdoing, but his attorney Steven Clyde says he's decided to reverse the deal.

Clyde calls the residents' annexation petition "fatally flawed" and says it will not stand up in court. Without incorporating, Sellers says he won't be able to develop the land with as many houses as he would like.

State lawmakers are working quickly to amend the law, which many say passed without enough scrutiny.
