Few Utahns Nominated for National Service Honors

None by KCPW

Senator Bennett Urges Participation

(KCPW News) Utahns have been slow to recognize their peers for a new national award, according to Senator Bob Bennett.

"It's sponsored by the people who do the Congressional Medal of Honor, and Utah has not come forward with a lot of nominations," says Bennett. "So I would hope Utahns would think about people in their communities who've done extraordinary things for others, and then send their names in."

One finalist from every state will be selected for the new Above and Beyond Citizens Awards based on a singular act of extraordinary heroism or a series of acts that epitomize service to others. Three winners will be chosen from the finalists and announced during a primetime TV special in March.

Nominating information can be found at www.aboveandbeyond365.com.
