Becker Eyes Fix of City Planning Division

(KCPW News) Salt Lake City Mayor Elect Ralph Becker says that once he takes office on January 7th, he plans on working quickly to fix the city's planning division. Salt Lake's planning division has come under fire due to claims of zoning and permit gaffes; an issue that Becker says can be fixed with consistent policies and standards.

Becker will retain George Shaw as the city's Planning Director.  In addition, Becker has been meeting regularly with members of the incoming city council to inform them of his plans and says he will work swiftly to enact ordinance changes.

Becker says he also wants to establish areas of the city where chain stores will be allowed while making sure those businesses have incentive to open in Salt Lake City. Click here to listen to today's Midday Metro conversation with Becker.
