Capitol Workers Proud of Restoration

None by Eric Ray

(KCPW News) Utah's State Capitol building will re-open for business today following a nearly decade long restoration project. The building has undergone a seismic retrofit and intense restoration in that time at a total cost of $227 million. KCPW's Eric Ray spoke to several of the people involved in the restoration and brings us this audio postcard.

Approximately 4,771 construction workers have contributed to Capitol restoration project, and more than 76 miles of audio-visual wire and cable were used to upgrade the building's communication system.

Today's rededication of the State Capitol begins at 2pm. The Capitol will then be open to the public until 5:30 today and will conclude with a fireworks show. The Capitol open house continues through January 12th and is open daily from 9am to 8pm.
