Salt Lake City Mayor to Deliver State of City Address Tuesday Night
Jan 15, 2008 by Jeff Robinson
Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker will deliver his first state of the city address at tonight's city council meeting. Some council members think his ideas will be well received. Councilman Soren Simonsen, who endorsed Becker, hopes to hear more about the mayor's proposed education partnership and his 180-day action plan.Councilman Eric Jergensen, who also supported Becker but did not support former mayor Rocky Anderson, is hoping to hear Becker's thoughts on funding affordable housing, building the North Temple TRAX line, and reshaping the city's planning process. He expects that Becker will be willing to listen to the council's ideas and create a good working relationship, something he says the former mayor was not willing to do.
Tonight's meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the city and county building.
