Downtown Master Plan Slated for Overhaul

Jan 15, 2008 by Elizabeth Ziegler

(KCPW News) It's been more than a decade since the city council adopted Salt Lake City's current Downtown Master Plan. But several projects now underway promise to revitalize the neighborhood. And downtown Alliance executive Director Bob Farrington says a meeting this morning brought all the stakeholders together to coordinate future projects and goals for the neighborhood.

Farrington says the city's master plan needs to be freshened-up to include Downtown Rising and the Downtown Master Transportation Plan. Farrington says he will use feedback from today's meeting to prioritize future projects, such as the proposed arts and culture center, year-round public market, and expanded city trails-system. The new draft of the Downtown Master Plan could be in city council members' hands in a month or two. A link to the city's current master plan for downtown is available at kcpw.org.
