No Voucher Retaliation ... Yet
Jan 21, 2008 by Elizabeth Ziegler
(KCPW News) Utah voters said "No" to vouchers in a November referendum. But the majority of lawmakers supported the measure. Rumors continue to surface about a possible retaliation, as state lawmakers convene for this legislative session.
Representative James Dunnigan says he hasn't seen any evidence of retaliation. But, he says, it could come in two ways. One would pit lawmakers against the public education system, the other would be retribution against Legislators who voted against vouchers, such as himself. And that could come in more subtle ways, including holding a bill in committee until the last day of the session. Dunnigan is Republican who sits on the Rules Committee, where many proposed bills can get hung up - perhaps including the 7 he's proposed this year.Email to a friendPosted in KCPW Newsroom.
