(KCPW News) A pilot program that offers millions of dollars in incentive grants to school districts interested operating year-round. The proposal got a nod of approval Tuesday - the Senate Education Committee approved it unanimously. It now heads to the Senate for further consideration.
The grants would pay for some of the costs associated with keeping schools open year-round, such as air conditioning to make classes comfortable in the heat of summer. But, he says, the investment is worth it. Stephenson says the full-year system would benefit students and teachers alike.
