Matheson Advises Lawmakers to Address Healthcare and Mass Transit

None by Eric Ray

(KCPW News) Utah Congressman Jim Matheson urged Utah lawmakers yesterday to take a leading role in healthcare reform and in the creation of more mass transit.

Matheson says issues of healthcare access are more likely to play out on the state level than at the federal level, although he concedes Congress has to act in order for states to complete healthcare reform.

When it comes to mass transit, Matheson says more states are developing mass transit plans. He recommends the state act on more mass transit options now before the competition for federal transportation dollars becomes more intense.

In addition to healthcare reform and transportation, Matheson discussed the construction of the St. George airport, infrastructure issues, and energy development.
