Special Ed Teachers Might Get Option to Extend the School Year

None by Eric Ray

(KCPW News) Special Education teachers in Utah could soon get paid for up to ten extra workdays each school year.

Republican Representative Kory Holdaway of Taylorsville says many special education teachers leave the classroom because of the burden of extra paperwork associated with the profession.

Teachers would have the option of working the extra days at the rate of $200 per day. House Bill 67, sponsored by Republican Representative Ronda Menlove of Box Elder County, passed the House yesterday by a vote of 62-0 and will now be considered by the Senate.
