Anti-Stadium Activist Reacts to Corroon's Decision

(KCPW News) News today that Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon is turning down Real Salt Lake's request for public money to build a soccer stadium in Sandy is good news to anti-stadium activist Steven Pace."It makes Peter Corroon look kind of like King Kong. He in effect told (RSL Owner) Dave Checketts 'Show me the money' and Checketts blinked. I got to say, more power to him."
Pace was part of a group pressuring Real Salt Lake to release their financial information before the County approved any public funding.
Corroon is holding out the possibility that Real Salt Lake could take the issue to the voters by putting a general obligation bond on the ballot in November. Pace says he thinks the public won't support the issue.
It's not clear what Real Salt Lake will do now in their quest for a stadium. Salt Lake City originally expressed interest in providing the site for a soccer stadium, but Pace wonders if the city will go for it now.
