Midday Utah begins after the 9 a.m. news

Russell Dalton is a Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Irvine. His research and teaching focuses on the role of citizens in the political process, and how democracies can better address public preferences and the democratic ideal. Dalton talks this morning about several issues in the 2008 election cycle, including turnout for the primaries and caucuses, the youth vote, and superdelegates.

E.J. Dionne is a frequent political analyst on NPR and PBS, and as a syndicated columnist for the Washington Post. He is also the author of the new book titled SOULED OUT: Reclaiming Faith and Politics After the Religious Right, in which he explains why the era of the Religious Right and the exploitation of faith for political advantage is over.
