Midday Utah begins after the 9 a.m. news
Costa Rica spends only 15 percent of what America does on health care, yet its people appear to be living longer, seemingly healthier lives than people in any other country on Earth. That's just one of the interesting stories Dan Beuttner has to tell in his new book titled The Blue Zone: Lessons for Living Longer from the People Who've Lived the Longest. Dan Beuttner - who is an explorer, writer, and founder of Quest Network, Inc. - details in the book why certain populations in four areas of the world live very long lives. And it's not through pills, surgery or medication.
Alex Steffen says that we need to create a future that is sustainable, dynamic, prosperous and fair -- a future that is bright, green, free, and tough. He explores ways to do just that in his 2006 book titled Worldchanging: A User's Guide for the 21st Century, which has just been released in paperback. It's been called The Whole Earth Catalog retooled for the iPod generation. Alex Steffen is the co-founder and executive editor of Worldchanging.com, a global nonprofit media collaborative. He is a former environmental journalist, National Public Radio host, and a strategic consultant to over 50 environmental groups.
