Utah Homeless Projects Receive $3.3 Million

(KCPW News) Forty-five non-profits that help Utah's homeless population will split $3.3 million in funding from the Pamela Atkinson Homeless Trust Fund. Jonathan Hardy, director of the State Community Services Office, says the funding source is crucial for programs that aim to end chronic homelessness.
"As far as the case management side goes - which this is where we really see the outcomes kick in, when people are meeting on a regular basis with their case managers and really following through on the things that will help them stabilize - this is definitely the largest and most flexible funding source for those types of activities," Hardy says.
One of the groups to receive funding from the Utah Homeless Coordinating Committee was Salt Lake City's The Road Home. The Committee granted $800,000 to continue operating its shelter and to hire case workers for Palmer Court. The new transitional housing development will offer 200 new affordable rental units and social services for people recovering from chronic homelessness.
