Medicare Part D a Success Story

Expert Says Deadline is Working

(KCPW News) Monday is the deadline for America's seniors to sign up for the new Medicare drug plan. While the majority have picked a plan and signed up, millions have not, leading some in Congress to call for an extension of the initial sign-up period. It's a notion dismissed by Dr. Robert Goldberg, Vice President for The Center for Medicine in the Public Interest, who has testified before the Senate Special Committee on Aging, the Senate Small Business Committee, and the House Commerce Committee.

Goldberg tells KCPW's Lara Jones that the May 15 deadline actually created what he calls a federal health care success story:

For more information on the Medicare Part D sign-up, Goldberg says seniors can go online to www.Medicare.gov, call 1-800 Medicare, or ask for details at any pharmacy or senior center -- but do it by Monday.
