Council Members Want to Save Wasatch Hollow Gully
(KCPW News) Community efforts to preserve the Wasatch Hollow Gully near 17th South and 17th East have gained two important allies. Salt Lake City Councilmembers Jill Remington Love and Dave Buhler both say they will pull their respective strings to support the effort. The owner of the Gully has plans to build ten small homes around Emigration Creek, which runs through the property. The community will need more than a million dollars to save the land from development and preserve it as open space. Since kicking-off it's campaign on April 26, the Wasatch Hollow Community Council has raised just $5,450. Love says it's a lofty, but attainable goal. The community council is hoping to receive a matching grant from the city's Open Space Lands Program, which voters approved more than a year ago.
