New Westminster Board Chair Comes with Tech Pedigree

(KCPW News) The new chair of Westminster College's Board of Trustees comes with a pedigree in high-tech business. Bob Frankenberg was CEO of Novell from 1994 to 1996. Today he serves on a number of public and private boards. But Frankenberg says his tenure will not bring big technology changes to the small private college.

"Technology has always been an important part component of education, though not the most important," says Frankenberg. "The strongest emphasis at Westminster has been on student learning."

Frankenberg says the plan for now is to keep Westminster's studentbody cozy - there are just 2,500 students enrolled. Instead, he will focus the board's attention on maintaining quality and expanding study options.

"We have three new centers being put in place: a center for diversity, for the environment and for civic engagement," says Frankenberg. "I think those will contribute enormously to our students' education."

Frankenberg replaces philanthropist Ginger Giovale who served as chairwoman of the Westminster College Board of Trustees for 18 years.
